Kids playing,
Running up
Heaps of dirt –
“Don’t … fall
Down… that hole!”
Then
“Hide and seek”
In the dark.
Two teenage girls
Have long since crashed,
Asleep together
On the double bed,
But
The little tackers
Are still going strong,
Building
Cubbies in the gym
While mums
And dads –
Wash dishes
At midnight…
I drove home slowly,
Under
The beautiful
Autumn stars
Very tired,
But thinking –
That all was right
With the world.
